Furman "Mitch" Hanna was born June 16, 1983 and was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident January 6, 2015.  Mitch was a career fireman with Horry County Fire Rescue and had 9 years on the job.  Mitch had many jobs within the department, but his favorite was being a "Truckie".  One of the many jobs of a "Truckie" is throwing ladders for rescues, ventilation, or entry & exit from a building.  One of his favorite workouts at the firehouse was throwing and climbing every ladder with full gear.

Fire service ladders go up in size and weight from a 14ft roof ladder weighing 35 pounds to a 35ft extension ladder weighing almost 150 pounds.  The thrusters in the workout are designed to simulate throwing multiple ladders.
